Haruna Hirata

Biography

I think I started drawing when I was around 3 or 4 years old.
My mother used to say that whenever I became quiet, I was drawing pictures.
I remember imitating characters from my favorite anime and enjoying
coloring books that my mother made for me.
My grandmother also loved fashion and used to draw calligraphy and fashion
sketches frequently.
I was fascinated by how a single line could bring life and depict the details of
light, shadows, bones, and muscles under the skin.
I used to show my drawings to my grandmother and receive advice from her.
If I didn't like something, I would tear it up without hesitation and practice
repeatedly until I could draw that lifelike line.
When I worked as a fashion designer, I never drew pictures (of women), but
when I started drawing again after a 15-year hiatus, I couldn't stop.
I don't just draw clothes; I depict the texture and feel of the materials.
I don't just draw people; I depict their vitality, perspective, and emotions.
That is my motto.
I draw with minimal lines, giving life to the person with the least amount of
strokes.

To all those in the fashion and art industries who bring out the radiance of
women, I express my utmost respect.
