Joanne Maasdamme (1982 ) is a self-taught illustrator.
After completing her Master of Law and working at different firms she decided to turn over a new leaf, following her passion for illustration, using it as her means of self expression.
Maasdamme has a love for raw materials such as ink and pencil. Her
monochromatic style often focuses on contorting and exaggerating form and lines to create dramatic poses that exude attitude.
Maasdamme's work is highly inspired by fierce women, fashion and the diversity in human form. The women she portrays in her artwork are strong, vulnerable, engaging and cheeky.
Since launching herself as a freelance artist, Maasdamme’s work has been exhibited internationally at acclaimed institutions : SHOWstudio ( London), MuseoABC ( Madrid) and The Mass ( Tokyo).
