Nilay Sen

Nilay Sen is a Turkish artist and illustrator based in Milano. 

She started drawing at a really young age and never stopped since. In 2022 she graduated with a fashion illustration major from fashion design in NABA. Besides fashion, she also took classes from various subjects such as theatre costume, history of cinema and art history. 

She works in a range of traditional media like markers, pencils, charcoal and sometimes gouache but she also incorporates digital techniques subtly (photoshop and illustrator) into her artworks. Figurative work and portraits are her favorite subjects to draw. Her main influences are fashion, music, cinema, horror and gothic imagery. 

One of her favorite things to do is to create contrasting, somewhat eclectic illustrations by adding gothic imagery or various horror elements to what she describes as beautiful. She generally prefers to use markers and colored pencils in her colored drawings. In her black and white drawings, she uses charcoal pencils, ballpoint pens and rarely, soft crayons.
